I am quite dyslexic, so really depend on audiobooks. This sometimes makes it difficult to track names and places, especially with a large or unfamiliar lexicon. Finding your readers guide has made it possible for me to really enjoy a book I was starting to struggle with. Thank you so much. Also, just want to say that it is exceptionally well done. Great research! Thanks again.
Thank you so much! No, this book is a special case. First, because it's Stephen Graham Jones and I love his work and try to promote it. Second, because the world of Good Stab (and, to a lesser extent, Arthur Beaucarne) is so foreign to us, it can help to know some of the references.
Helpful as always Greg! Thank you! You wouldn't possibly have a character guide at all, would you? I paused my reading so I would be on pace with the rest of the book club, and now that I'm restarting, I'm forgetting some of the minor characters (thanks, Menopause!). Specifically (at this moment), White Teeth. I think it's one of the soldiers, but I can't remember.
Haha! Hi, Victoria! I haven't been very active on Substack but am trying to make it a repository for my more substantive posts. Thanks for reading and sharing!
You might add (from p39): "All Crazy Dogs, Kunnutsomitaks, which is like your police," which might be helpful context for what Hunts-to-the-Side, Peasy, Tall Dog and Good Stab are up to at the beginning of Good Stab's confession. Basically, crime scene investigation (and clean up).

Mark, this is so gratifying to hear! I hope you stick with the book and enjoy it! Thanks for taking a moment to leave such a kind comment!
I’m reading TBHH now. I’m so glad I found your article. It’s very helpful. Thanks!
Lorie, thanks for letting me know! So glad it's been helpful!
This is great thank you.
Do you typically take notes like this for books you read?

I did lead a read-along of the majority of Laird Barron's fiction, with a troop of terrific contributors, over on the Laird Barron subreddit. We did deep dives into a bunch of Laird's horror stories and his novel The Croning. https://www.reddit.com/r/LairdBarron/comments/1aosifb/laird_barron_readalong_2024_story_schedule_post/

Lemme see if I can produce one this week! That's a great idea!
Thank you so much!
How have I not been following you here, too?!
This is an incredible guide! I wish I had it when I read TBHH. Good thing I'll be reading it again. Many thanks 🙏🏼
Sending my book friends over to this!
